Click the gear icon in the panel header to open the settings menu. There are three options.
Export custom items #
Downloads all your custom items as a single JSON file called etchkit-custom-library.json. Use this to back up your custom library or to move it to another browser or site.
If you have no custom items, the export will be empty.
Import custom items #
Loads a previously exported JSON file back into the panel. Two things happen during import:
- Items with matching IDs are updated with the imported data
- New items (IDs that do not exist yet) are appended to your library
Built-in etchKit items are never overwritten by an import. Only custom item IDs are affected.
This is useful for syncing your custom library across devices, sharing items with a colleague, or restoring a backup after clearing your data.
Clear saved data #
Wipes everything the panel has stored in your browser. This includes:
- Starred items
- Recent history
- Usage counts (used for “Most used” sort)
- Sort, view, and layout preferences
- All custom items
- Tool state (like the last color used in Color Swatches)
After clearing, the panel resets to its default state as if you were opening it for the first time. There is no undo, so export your custom items first if you want to keep them.
