The etchKit panel has a filter bar at the top that lets you narrow down the library fast. Every filter works in real time, no page reloads, no waiting.
Opening the panel #
Click the etchKit icon (layers) in the Etch settings bar. To close it, click the icon again, press Escape, or click anywhere outside the panel.
Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+E toggles the panel open and closed from anywhere in the builder.
Filter bar #
The filter bar sits at the top of the panel and has two collection pills, two dropdowns, and a search field.
Starred #
Click the ★ Starred pill to show only items you have starred. Starring an item is like bookmarking it. You star items from the detail view and they stay starred across sessions.
When you activate the Starred filter, the type and category dropdowns reset to All so you see every starred item regardless of type.
Recent #
Click Recent to see the last 10 items you opened, newest first. Useful when you know you used a component yesterday but can’t remember the name.
Like Starred, this resets the type and category dropdowns to All.
Type dropdown #
Filters the library by item type: Components, Patterns, or Tools. Set it to All to see everything.
Category dropdown #
Narrows results further inside the selected type. The options in this dropdown update automatically based on what type you have selected. If you pick Components, you will only see component categories like Interactions, Layout, Media, and so on. If you set the type to All, the category dropdown shows every category in the library.
Search #
The search field filters across item names, descriptions, and tags in real time as you type.
If you type multiple words, etchKit treats them as an AND query. So typing scroll animation only shows items that match both “scroll” and “animation”, not one or the other.
When you start typing, the type and category dropdowns reset to All automatically. This is intentional. Search works across the full library so you do not miss results because a filter was narrowing things down.
Sort #
The sort button lets you reorder the list. Available options:
- Default — the order defined in the library file
- A-Z — alphabetical
- Z-A — reverse alphabetical
- Category — grouped by category
- Most used — items you have copied the most appear first
Your sort preference is saved and restored the next time you open the panel.
